I visited Rome in Italy!
Where did you stay?
I stayed at the Hotel de la Ville just a few steps from the Spanish Steps.
Three words to describe your journey?
Colourful, energetic and warm.
Discoveries or surprises along the way?
More of a rediscovery of one of my favourite spots in Rome which is a bakery called Il Fornaio. It's pretty popular but too good to not return to.
What left a lasting impression?
The high energy of the city and the friendliness and warmth of Italians always leaves a lasting impression on me.
A local must-see or must-do?
I highly recommend Palazzo Colonna. It's a private palace and art gallery with a stunning private garden which has an incredible view over the city.
If the location were a color? A sound? A taste?
Orange, the musicality of the Italian language, Pistachio
What item(s) do you always pack?
I never leave without my camera. (And back up memory cards!)
Do you have any exploration rituals?
I always love finding the best place to watch the sunrise and sunset in a new place.
Best way to discover somewhere new?
I think the best way to discover something new is to spend at least a few hours wandering without a list of to-dos or a detailed itinerary. You never know what you might find!
Travel tips or secrets to share?
Travel off season if you can. Everything is less crowded and the places have a completely different atmosphere!
Where to next?
I would love to explore the Dolomites!
